A lovely trail starting from the hamlet of Salilhes, with most of the route in forest (beech, fir...) but also in summer meadows offering beautiful views.
Start from the parking lot near the church.
From the war memorial (memorial to Dr Jean Civiale), take the road up to the top of the village. After 100m, opposite the farmhouse inn, take the path on the right that climbs to the village oven and rejoins the road. Follow the road to the right to join a wide path that winds up to the Salilhes cross (with its fine views over the village and down the valley).
Continue uphill until you reach a flat spot (with a fine view of the surrounding mountains, including Elancèze).
The path continues to climb through the undergrowth before reaching the Col de Berganty.
At the pass, leave the 3 main trails and take the path furthest to the left, towards Saint Curial. The path descends through a beautiful beech forest, then skirts a fir forest before arriving at the foot of the Rocher de Saint-Curial (possible ascent: 1/2 round trip - caution: path not very marked in summer due to vegetation).
Return to the main itinerary and continue downhill until you come to a house called "La Garde", a former high-altitude farmhouse with a beautiful panoramic view of the Monts du Cantal.
Pass behind the house and follow the path through the meadow, which then veers slightly to the left before joining the forest. Caution: at the Maison de la Garde, intersection with the PR "La Grotte des Anglais", marked in yellow.
Cross the passage at the entrance to the forest, then turn right onto the track which leads downhill to a place called "Caylane", where you'll find a local road. Follow this road for about 500 m, then take the small path that climbs up near a small stream and brings you back to the starting point.Marking : Marked-out walking circuit - Yellow markingEquipments : Car park, Admission fee : Free of charge.Opening : All year round daily.
